Frenectomy + Recovery
Regardless of the method used for your procedure, it’s essential that your frenectomy provider explains how to properly care for the wound post-procedure. Different specialists may have different instructions, and because of these differences, it’s difficult for us to know exactly what is recommended. We’ve created this page to offer some helpful resources, but ultimately, you should consult with your provider directly for specific guidance regarding your frenectomy.

Preparing for Your Frenectomy
Frenectomy day is almost here! To ensure the best experience possible, the following guidelines are recommended in the 24-48 hours leading up to your scheduled tongue-tie release (unless your provider gives you different instructions).
A good night’s sleep is important for pain management. Being sleep-deprived can increase sensitivity during the procedure.
1
Watch the videos listed below. Write down any questions you have after watching them and bring them to your appointment. Make sure your questions are answered prior to your tongue-tie release! (You likely won't feel up for conversation post-op).
2
Make sure your first post-frenectomy therapy session is scheduled to take place within 48 hours of the release.
3
Set a reminder in your calendar for 10-15 minutes before your specialty appointment. This reminders job is to make sure you get your questions answered and to not let you leave your doctors office without receiving post-op wound care instructions.
